Become A Hot Cross-Sectoral Conversation, Here's The Isuzu Response About ODOL Trucks

JAKARTA - Over Dimension Over Loading (ODOL) trucks are now back to a hot topic of conversation, even now being the main discussion across ministries.

Not without reason, because there are so many dangers lurking when the truck is overloaded, both in terms of the vehicle itself, and other road users.

As one of the players in the commercial vehicle segment, PT Isuzu Astra Motor Indonesia through the Head of Communication Management Division Puti Annisa Moeloek is quite difficult to control vehicle users, because supervision of vehicles is only valid until the distribution process.

"Yes, it has actually become the right of consumers, we can't control the modification or use the overload," he said, when met in the area, Bekasi, some time ago.

However, Annisa emphasized that all Isuzu products must have complied with government regulations before being marketed to consumers. In addition, it also educates caroseri and consumers regarding ODOL, but unilaterally practice is still a challenge.

"Because talking about ODOL is not only because it is overloaded, but how to drive. In addition, the over truck is also not only the cause of the accident, but also the road is getting worse," he added.

Attention Many Parties

Minister of Public Works (PU), Dody Hanggodo, said that ODOL would be the main discussion between ministries. It was also revealed that prohibiting ODOL trucks can increase inflation and increase logistics costs.

"Prohibiting ODOL 100 percent (trucks) may not be in a current condition yet. Yes, because it can increase inflation and so on, we can't. But we can't prohibit it, because budget constraints will make it then our ability to prioritize down roads," he said.

In addition, the Ministry of Transportation together with Korlantas Polri and clan services are intensifying their commitment to eradicating ODOL trucks.

"In the future (handling ODOL trucks) we will disseminate information on handling, and then there is a warning, and then there is law enforcement," said Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi, quoted from the Police Headquarters website.
