Prabowo And MBS Agree To Improve Hajj And Umrah Services For Indonesian Congregants

JAKARTA - Presiden Prabowo Subianto dan Putra Mahkota Arab Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud menegaskan komitmen bersama untuk meningkatkan kualitas layanan haji dan umrah bagi jemaah Indonesia.

This affirmation is one of the main points in Prabowo's state visit to Saudi Arabia on July 2-3, 2025.

In an official meeting that took place at the Al-Salam Palace, Jeddah, Wednesday, June 2, Prabowo expressed his appreciation to the Saudi Arabian government for his attention and commitment to the services of Muslims, including pilgrims from Indonesia.

"The Indonesian side expresses its deep appreciation for the efforts of the Government of Saudi Arabia in serving the Two Holy Mosques and the pilgrims of Hajj and Umrah," wrote the joint official statement quoted on Thursday, June 3.

Prabowo also highlighted the close coordination that has been established so far, and the importance of continuing cooperation for the convenience of the congregation in the coming Hajj season.

"Indonesia also praised good coordination in ensuring the comfort of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims from Indonesia," the statement continued.

The two countries agreed to strengthen collaboration to provide the best services, including in terms of facilities, security, and health aspects.

"Both parties discussed efforts to improve the best service for Indonesian pilgrims," read the official meeting statement.

The bilateral meeting is also a momentum to deepen strategic relations through the Saudi Highest Coordination Council "Indonesia, which has just been formed and ratified in the forum. This council will be the main forum in strengthening inter-sectoral cooperation.

Beyond the issue of hajj, this meeting includes agreements in various important fields. The two countries emphasized the importance of expanding economic cooperation, trade, investment, energy, and technology. Over the past five years, the value of bilateral trade between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia has been recorded at US$ 31.5 billion or around Rp. 502.7 trillion.

Investment from the private sector is also strengthened through the signing of a number of agreements and MoUs with a total value of US$ 27 billion or around Rp. 437.8 trillion, which is directed at expanding employment in Indonesia, especially in the fields of clean energy and strategic industries.

In the health sector, cooperation is expanded in the provision of health services for pilgrims, strengthening the pharmaceutical industry, developing vaccines, and increasing the capacity of health human resources.

The two leaders also expressed common views on regional stability and commitments to peaceful resolution of various conflicts, including support for a two-state solution to Palestine and strengthening the role of international humanitarian organizations.
