Alleged Cause Of Diogo Jota Accident
JAKARTA - Liverpool striker and Portugal National Team (Timnas), Diogo Jota, and his brother, Andre Silva, died in a car accident near Zamora, Spain, on Thursday, July 3, 2025, early in the morning local time.
Liverpool, Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro, and the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) also confirmed the incident.
Spain's Civil Guard (Civil Guard) confirmed to The Associated Press that Jota and her brother were found dead after their car got off the track on a remote highway about an hour west of Zamora.
According to local police, the car - Lamborghini - caught fire. Firefighters were called when the fire spread to nearby plants.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident, which occurred after midnight local time. They said no other vehicles were involved. The bodies are currently undergoing forensic analysis.

It is not clear who was driving the car. Police are investigating the hypothesis that the accident occurred because the tire burst.
Jota, who is 28 years old, and his brother, 25 years old, are both Portuguese players. Only those in the car.
A spokesman for Spanish Civil Servants told ESPN they believed the driver lost control after his tires erupted.
Spain's Civil Guard is one of two Spanish national law enforcement agencies. They are a separate organization from the police.
Jota, whose full name is Diogo Jose Teixeira da Silva, has performed 182 times for Liverpool since joining from Wolverhampton in 2020.
He lifted the Premier League title in May 2025, having previously won the FA Cup and two Carabao Cups in five years with the Reds.
Meanwhile Silva plays for Portuguese club Penafiel, who is in the Portuguese League 2.
Jota's death comes weeks after he married Route Cardoso which in a post on social media wrote, "Yes for good."
They have three children, the youngest was born last year.
