Coordinating Minister Airlangga Says RI Is Ready To Sign A MoU On Trade Tariffs With The US
Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto revealed that currently the Indonesian negotiating team is in the United States (US) to convey Indonesia's official stance on the reciprocal tariff agreement.
However, Airlangga has not been able to mention the agreed tariff amount because this figure can still change at any time.
"The tariff agreement has been discussed. We'll just have to wait for the progress because this day to day continues to change," he said at a press conference, Thursday, July 3.
To note, Indonesia received a reciprocal rate from the US of 32 percent for exported products to the US.
Airlangga added that the Indonesian negotiating team is in Washington along with other countries that are negotiating, such as India, Japan, the European Union, Vietnam, and Malaysia.
"So thus shows that Indonesia is very serious about responding to this tariff and Indonesia has written it and has been discussed both with USTR, with the Secretary of Commerce and Secretary of Treasury," he added.
Ahead of the deadline for negotiations on July 9, 2025, Airlangga said that the Indonesian government would sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with trading partners in the United States on July 7, 2025.
Airlangga said that this signing was a form of the Government's seriousness with business actors, both from BUMN and the private sector, as part of the national synergy in strengthening bilateral trade relations.

According to him, this agreement aims to show Indonesia's commitment to increasing the purchase of goods from the US to balance the balance sheet balance between the two countries.
"Thus it shows that Indonesia is incorporated. So between the government, regulators and BUMN and private entrepreneurs together to respond to the imposition of resipulation rates," he explained.
