RI Ready To Buy US Products Capai 34 Billion US Dollars, Exceeds Trade Deficit
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto revealed that Indonesia is committed to buying products from the United States (US) with a total value of 34 billion US dollars exceeding the value of the US trade deficit against Indonesia, which is currently recorded at 19 billion US dollars.
"We trade the American deficit against Indonesia 19 billion dollars, but what we are offering to buy them is more than 34 billion dollars, so that is the goal of the coordination meeting held today between stakeholders of the Ministry and business actors," said Airlangga, Thursday, July 3.
According to Airlangga, this step is a strategy in responding to the reciprocal tariff policy imposed by the United States.
He conveyed that this commitment is not short-term, but is a long-term step in strengthening trade relations between the two countries.
Airlangga added that Indonesia will make purchases to the US covering the energy sector of 15.5 billion US dollars.
"Then it is also related to the purchase of agricultural goods and is also related to the investment plan, including the BUMN and Danantara," he added.

Airlangga conveyed that as a form of seriousness for the reciprocal tariff, the Indonesian government together with business actors, both state-owned and private, synergized to draw up a memorandum of understanding or Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
"So the plan is to hold an agreement or a Memorandum of Understanding between Indonesia and its partners in the United States on July 7", he said.
Currently, Airlangga continued, the Indonesian negotiating team is also in Washington DC along with delegates from other countries such as India, Japan, the European Union, Vietnam, and Malaysia, to convey Indonesia's official stance to a number of US authorities, including the USTR, Secretary of Commerce, and Secretary of Treasury.
