Hutama Karya Targets Irrigation Network Rehabilitation In Aceh And Riau To Be Completed In October 2025

JAKARTA - PT Hutama Karya (Persero) is back working on national strategic infrastructure, namely rehabilitating irrigation networks in Aceh and Riau Provinces. These two projects are part of the Ministry of Agriculture's (Ministry of Agriculture) Land Optimization Program to support the achievement of national food self-sufficiency.

Executive Vice President (EVP) Corporate Secretary Hutama Karya Adjib Al Hakim said all funding for this project was sourced from the 2025 State Budget and is targeted for completion in October.

"These two projects will begin to be mobilized in the first week of July 2025 with the target of completion in October 2025," said Adjib in a written statement, Thursday, July 3.

Adjib explained that the scope of projects in Aceh Province will include irrigation rehabilitation in 11 districts/cities, while in Riau Province, irrigation rehabilitation will be carried out in three districts.

In detail, the scope of rehabilitation includes design detailed planning work, channel normalization, rehabilitation of structure buildings to changes to damaged floodgates. The main components of the rehabilitated infrastructure include primary, secondary, tertiary and sluice channels.

Later, this rehabilitation will have a direct impact on about 150 farmer groups in both provinces, spread over approximately 150 villages.

"With more reliable irrigation water supply, farmers have the opportunity to increase the planting intensity to the Plantation Index 2," he said.

In its implementation, Hutama Karya will use digital construction technology to accelerate and improve work accuracy. In Aceh, LiDAR technology will be used for mapping, while in Riau it will use drones for surveys and job location mapping.

The presence of these two projects also contributed to the economic impact at the local level through the absorption of local workers by employing local communities.

According to Adjib, the rehabilitation of this irrigation network is a strategic investment in realizing national food security.

"With the increase in land productivity in Aceh and Riau, we are optimistic that this project can make a real contribution to the achievement of food self-sufficiency in 2025, in line with President Prabowo's Astacita vision," he concluded.
