Deputy Minister Of PKP: Government Allocates IDR 43.6 Trillion For Renovation Of 23 Million Houses In Villages

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Fahri Hamzah revealed that the Government has allocated a budget of IDR 43.6 trillion to renovate two million inappropriate houses in villages.

According to Fahri, each house received an allocation of funds of around Rp. 21.8 million. However, the challenge is not only a matter of funds.

Our capacity is to build mass renovations so far, the highest is 140 thousand houses per year. Now we are targeted at 2 million. That is a big leap that is impossible to achieve without technology," he said in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Thursday, July 3.

He explained that in the village people generally have a house or the family owns a house because they still carry the concept of a extended family, but the house is not suitable. That's generally in the village, so that the housing in the village actually has no real problems with the land.

But in general, the posture of housing problems in rural areas is people living in uninhabitable houses, because sometimes the house is more of a place to live, not one that is symbolic in nature. This is a lot of things are found throughout Indonesia, on the beach, by the river and so on.

"So the government's strategy in the future is to carry out massive renovations of housing, especially in villages throughout Indonesia. This has increased the number to 2 million housing units," said Fahri.

For information, the Ministry of PKP proposes to renovate two million housing units for next year. This proposal is motivated by the number of houses that are not yet habitable as many as 26 million units.

In addition, the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait (Ara) proposed 500 thousand subsidized housing units for 2026 in cabinet meetings.
