Infrastructure And Battery Readiness Can Trigger Transition To Electric Motorcycles

JAKARTA - The electric motorcycle market in Indonesia continues to increase, but is not accompanied by infrastructure affordability that makes it easier for users to charge batteries or swaps.

Based on data from the Founder of the National Battery Research Institute, Prov. Dr. rer. nat. Evvy Kartini, in fact, there are 52 brands, all of which are different in size.

According to him, there are things that must be carefully watched, including the standardization of batteries. That way, owners can more freely charge batteries or swaps.

"The expansion of the swap network and battery charging stations is more affordable. If that happens, I'm sure people will definitely move," he said, when met in the Jakarta area, some time ago.

Furthermore, he hopes that manufacturing can help provide cross-brand charging stations, where users of other brand electric motorcycles simply pay additional administrative money.

"Just like the Independent Card, going to BRI pays Rp. 6,500. It's simple, so the investment is not too much," he added.

So, it is considered that the standardization of batteries to the expansion of the network can be the right step for the market to grow.
