Alibaba Cloud Launches New Data Center And AI Global Competency Center
JAKARTA - Alibaba Cloud made a big announcement when holding the Alibaba Cloud Global Summit on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. At the event, Alibaba announced the launch of its newest data center.
The cloud company officially launched its third data center in Malaysia on July 1, 2025. The facility containing the computing infrastructure was established to deal with growing demand for cloud and Artificial Intelligence (AI) services in Southeast Asia.
Alibaba Cloud plans to open a second data center in the Philippines. This expansion is a continuation of infrastructure investments made during the first half of this year. They have expanded in Thailand, Mexico, and South Korea.
"This growing network ensures that Alibaba Cloud can meet ever-increasing global demand for secure, resilient, and scalable cloud services," Alibaba Cloud said, quoted from its official website.
In addition to announcing the launch of its newest data center, Alibaba Cloud also launched Singapore's first AI Global Competency Center (AIGCC). This competency center was built to accelerate AI adoption and encourage increased AI talent.

AIGCC is designed to support more than 5,000 businesses and 100,000 developers as well as provide access to advanced AI models. The global competency center also offers powerful computing resources to accelerate AI experiments and implementation.
"As a center for collaborative innovation, AIGCC aims to unite more than 1,000 companies and start-ups to jointly develop next-generation AI solutions, which encourage an applied innovation ecosystem," Alibaba Cloud said.
In the future, Alibaba Cloud will certainly partner with more than 120 universities and institutions in the world to develop their student abilities. This is done so that Alibaba Cloud can train 100,000 AI professionals every year.
