Nissan Recalls Nearly 440 Thousand Vehicles In The US, Here's The Problem

JAKARTA - Bad news came from Nissan. The reason is, this well-known automotive manufacturer from Japan announced the recall of 443,899 units in the United States (US).

Reuters reported on Thursday, July 3, that there was a failure in the engine as the culprit of the recall trigger. The company has identified potential production defects in several engine components in the vehicle, which can cause engine damage or total failure, thereby increasing the risk of accidents.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said the models affected had 1.5 liters and 2.0 liters of engines consisting of Rogue output in 2021-2024 and Altima in 2019-2020 and a premium Infinity branded car, namely QX55 2022 and QX50 model in 2019-2022.

Although the number of vehicles affected by the recall is quite large, NHTSA said the estimated number of vehicles experiencing defects reached 1.2 percent of the total.

Nissan appealed to the owners of the affected vehicles to take their cars to the nearest dealer network so that technicians can lower the oil tub and check the inside.

If metallic debris is detected, the manufacturer will repair it which will most likely replace the engine components. If the tub is clean, the technician will install it again and invite the owner to take his vehicle home with a healthy engine.

Because the affected vehicles are two different machines, the process is certainly not the same. For example, a 2.0 liter engine only gets new oil, but a 1.5 liter machine also gets a new oil-like feed and a reprogramd machine control module.

In addition, Nissan has not received any reports of accidents, injuries, or casualties caused by this problem.
