The Man Perpetrator Of Harassment In Angkot Leles Garut Was Arrested By The Police

Garut Police arrested a man who abused a female city transportation passenger (angkot) bound for Leles-Garut in Garut Regency, West Java. The perpetrator was brought to undergo a legal examination regarding his actions.

"We managed to arrest the perpetrators thanks to the identification of the video circulating and public reports," said Head of the Garut Police Criminal Investigation Unit AKP Joko Prihatin as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 2.

The arrest of the perpetrator was after a video was spread on social media showing harassment against a female passenger in the public transportation bound for Leles-Garut.

The harassment incident occurred on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at around 17.00 WIB in front of the minimarket on Jalan Merdeka, Jayawaras Village, Tarogong Kidul District, Garut.

The video shows a man who is also an angkot passenger suspected of committing inappropriate acts against a female passenger, then the victim scolded him for not accepting such treatment.

Joko conveyed that his staff, after receiving the information, immediately moved to investigate the perpetrators until the perpetrators were finally arrested.

"Currently, the perpetrators are being investigated by officers," said Joko.

He conveyed that the police's efforts in taking action quickly to handle the case were proof of their commitment to provide protection and a sense of security in public spaces, one of which was public transportation.

The arrest of the perpetrator, he said, is a lesson for all parties not to commit acts that violate the law or disturb order and comfort in public spaces.

"We remain committed to providing protection and a sense of security to all citizens," he said.
