Consumer Price Index Experiences Inflation In June 2025

JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) recorded that the Consumer Price Index (IHK) in June 2025 experienced inflation compared to the previous month.

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency, the JCI in June 2025 recorded inflation of 0.19 percent (mtm), so that on an annual basis the JCI experienced inflation of 1.87 percent (yoy).

Executive Director of the BI Communication Department Ramdan Denny Prakoso said that this maintained inflation was the result of the consistency of monetary policy and the close synergy of inflation control between Bank Indonesia and the Government (Center and Region) in the Central and Regional Inflation Control Team (TPIP and TPID) through the National Movement for Food Inflation Control (GNPIP) in various regions.

"In the future, Bank Indonesia believes that inflation will remain under control in the 2.5 percent target range plus minus 1 percent by 2025," he said in his statement, Wednesday, July 2.

Denny said that core inflation in June 2025 was recorded at 0.07 percent (mtm), relatively stable from 0.08 percent (mtm) in the previous month.

According to him, the development of core inflation is mainly influenced by the increase in global gold commodity prices, amid maintained inflation expectations.

Denny said that on an annual basis, core inflation in June 2025 was recorded at 2.37 percent (yoy), a decrease from inflation in the previous month of 2.40 percent (yoy).

The volatile food group in June 2025 experienced inflation of 0.77 percent (mtm), an increase from the previous month's realization which experienced deflation of 2.48 percent (mtm).

Denny conveyed that the Volatile food group inflation was contributed mainly by rice, cayenne pepper, and shallot commodities in line with the decline in supply which was influenced by the end of the harvest period, as well as production and distribution disruptions in several regions.

Meanwhile, on an annual basis, the volatile food group experienced inflation of 0.57 percent (yoy), higher than the previous month which recorded deflation of 1.17 percent (yoy).

In the future, inflationvolatile food is predicted to remain under control, supported by the close synergy between Bank Indonesia and TPIP and TPID through GNPIP in various regions.

Denny said that the administered price group in June 2025 experienced inflation of 0.09 percent (mtm), an increase from the previous month's realization which experienced deflation of 0.02 percent (mtm).

He said that the administrative price group inflation was mainly contributed by air transportation tariff commodities, household fuel, and engine kretek cigarettes (SKM) in line with increased mobility during the school holiday period, LPG Highest Retail Price Adjustments (HET) in several areas, as well as the gradual transmission of tobacco excise increases.

On an annual basis, the administrative prices group recorded inflation at 1.34 percent (yoy), a decrease from the previous month's inflation of 1.36 percent (yoy).
