Iranian President Officially Stops UN Nuclear Supervisory Cooperation IAEA

JAKARTA - Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian imposed a law passed by parliament to stop cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog, the IAEA.

This decision was taken after Iran previously threatened to stop cooperation with the IAEA.

The IAEA is called Iran sided with Western countries and provided justification for Israeli airstrikes, which began the day after the IAEA council voted to declare Iran to have violated its obligations under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Reported by Reuters on Wednesday, July 2, the law stipulates any future checks on Iran's nuclear sites by the International Atomic Energy Agency require approval from Tehran's Supreme National Security Council.

Separately, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said in an interview with CBS News that the US bombing of Iran's main nuclear site, Fordow, had caused severe damage.
