The Minister Of Social Affairs Ensures That People's Schools Start Simultaneously In Indonesia July 14
JAKARTA - Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf expressed optimism that the implementation of the first phase of the People's School could start simultaneously in the new academic year 2025/2026 which falls on July 14.
"It is getting more and more stable to go to July 14, both in terms of student readiness, readiness of the building, school principals, educators, as well as facilities and infrastructure. Thank God we are getting ready," said Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf in a conference after opening the second retret of the People's School Principal in Jakarta, Wednesday, July 2, reported by ANTARA.
Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf explained that the first phase of the People's School will start in 100 locations from the west end of Aceh to the east of Papua, and is estimated to accommodate more than 9,700 pre-sesejahtera family students from various regions.
The government has also prepared the second phase of the People's School in around 100 additional locations, including utilizing assets from the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) and the Work Training Center (BLK) of the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker).
"The other 100 points, now we have found 94 points. This week we will also start recruiting students, teachers, and other education personnel. God willing, we can accommodate more than 10 thousand students," said Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf.
According to him, later the total People's Schools that will operate this year are targeted to reach around 200 points.
"The first 100 points are on July 14, later there will be several additional points, God willing, they can start on July 14. Some of them may be at the end of July, depending on the readiness of the infrastructure," said the Minister of Social Affairs.

The People's School Program is prepared as a form of government affirmative policy to expand access to education for children from extreme poor families. All education costs, dormitories, meals, and basic needs of students are fully borne by the state.
The Minister of Social Affairs added that currently the entire preparation process, including the recruitment of educators and school principals, continues to be coordinated with relevant ministries and institutions so that they can run according to the target.
"I think it's quite clear, we are pursuing so that children from poor families have the opportunity to study properly, starting from this new school year," said Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf.
