Chromebook Corruption Case, Strategic Partner Manager Of Chrome OS Still Being Investigated By The AGO

The Attorney General's Office (AGO) continues to investigate cases of alleged procurement of Chrome OS orChoremebook-based laptops at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Technology Research (DIKBUDRISTEK). Recently, investigators examined Strategic Partner Manager Chrome OS Indonesia.

"It is true to examine the witness with the initials GSM," said Head of the AGO, Harli Siregar to VOI, Wednesday, July 2.

But what was not conveyed was what was explored against the witness during the examination. It is only stated that the process of taking the information is still ongoing.

"(The examination) is still ongoing," said Harli.

Previously, in investigating the alleged corruption case, investigators examined 6 witnesses, one of whom was the Special Staff of the Minister of Education and Technology, men Handayani.

Meanwhile, for the other five witnesses, namely WH as the General Bureau Staff and Procurement of Goods at the Ministry of Education and Culture; MA as Director of PT Tixpro Informatics Megah in 2020; and STD as General Manager of PT Tixpro Informatics Megah in 2020.

Then, the hospital as the Production Manager of PT Zyrexindo Mandiri Buana in 2020 and IWT as the Product Manager of PT Evercross Teknologi Indonesia in 2021.

The witnesses were examined at the Directorate of Investigation of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), on Tuesday, June 1.

"The witness examination was carried out to strengthen the evidence and complete the filing in the case," said Harli

Meanwhile, in this case, investigators investigated allegations of malicious conspiracy by various parties by directing a technical team to conduct technical studies related to the procurement of equipment assistance related to technology education in 2020.

In fact, the use of Chromebooks is not a necessity. This is because in 2019 a trial of the use of 1,000 Chromebooks by the Ministry of Education and Culture's Pustekkom was conducted and the results were ineffective.

From this experience, the technical team also recommended using specifications with the Windows operating system. However, at that time, the Ministry of Education and Culture replaced the study with a new study that recommended using Chrome system operations.

In terms of budget, Harli said the procurement spent Rp9.982 trillion. The nearly ten trillion funds consist of Rp3.582 trillion in education unit funds (DSP) and around Rp6.399 trillion from special allocation funds (DAK).
