Ukraine Attacks Russian Drone Factory In Izhevsk, 3 People Died
JAKARTA - Three people were killed and 35 others injured in the Ukrainian drone attack on a factory in the Russian city of Izhevsk.
Regional Governor Alexander Brechalov did not name the targeted facility.
But a Ukrainian security official previously told Reuters two long-range drones operated by the Ukrainian Security Service attacked the Kupol factory, causing a fire
The Pabriik Kupol is said to produce unmanned aircraft and air defense systems.
Black smoke was seen billowing into the sky from the location of the fire in the building in a video shared by Ukrainian officials.
Ukraine said the factory's production facilities and warehouses had been affected.
Reuters was unable to independently verify the claim.
Meanwhile, Brechalov said he had informed Russian President Vladimir Putin of the incident. Kupol is a research and development company and part of the state-owned defense conglomerate Almaz-Antey.
Izhevsk is also home to the world-famous Kalashnikov defense manufacturing company.
