Carvajal: I Will Play Anywhere In Alonso's Xabi Squad

JAKARTA - Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal said he was ready to play in any position in Alonso's Xabi team.

The right-back from Spain returned to training with Los Blancos earlier this month after recovering from the ACL injury he suffered in October 2024.

Carvajal was impressed by Alonso's new coach's tactics and spoke ahead of the 2025 Club World Cup last 16 match against Juventus.

"The coach brought real flexibility into the team (Aurelien) Tchouameni position. I will play anywhere, even between goalposts."

"I've played center-back, left-back, on the wing. I'm always ready for whatever the coach asks of me."

"I am ready to help in any way I can," he said.

The 33-year-old faces competition with Real Madrid after strengthening his squad ahead of a tournament in the United States by signing England international Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool, and Spanish defender Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth.

Alonso played a four-player defense in Real Madrid's opening match at the 2025 Club World Cup.

However, he turned to the back lines of his three selected players with Antonio Rudiger, Tchouameni, and Huijsen in their 3-0 win against RB Salzburg in the group stage.

Even so, Carvajal is not afraid of the competition he will face. He is ready to forget the injury he experienced and is ready to contribute.

"Personally, I feel great. I'm back in the group dynamics. I don't know if I'm going to be part of the squad against Juventus."

"I know myself. I know that if they got me in, I would give 100 percent there."

"Everyone came out. There was no fear, self-confidence was very high. All of this has passed now."

"I don't have enough training, I just returned to training with the group for a few weeks," said Carvajal.

Carvajal further said Real Madrid, who are runners-up in La Liga, are getting stronger as the tournament progresses.

"The team is getting more confident and Juventus is an opponent stronger than we have faced in tournaments so far."

"The opponent is tougher and this is the knockout round. I can't wait. Lose and you have to go home."

"We have to try our best. I hope we can secure a place in the quarter-finals," he said again.
