Sri Mulyani Reveals The Assumption That The 2026 RAPBN Exchange Rate Needs Flexibility To Face Global Turbulence

Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati responded to input from a number of members of the DPR who requested that the assumption of the rupiah exchange rate in the Macro Economic Framework and the Principles of Fiscal Policy (KEMPPKF) 2026 not exceed Rp. 16,700 per US dollar.

Sri Mulyani said that several factions of the DPR had proposed that the range of exchange rate assumptions be tightened, such as the Gerindra faction, propose that the exchange rate assumption be in the range of Rp. 16,200' Rp. 16,500 per US dollar, as a form of prudence on global risks and still high interest rates in the United States.

"Then, the PKB faction is of the opinion that it will narrow the range to Rp. 16,300-16,700 per US dollar," he said in the 21st DPR RI plenary session, Tuesday, July 1.

Sri Mulyani explained that the government is still proposing a range of exchange rates of IDR 16,500 to IDR 16,900 per US dollar.

According to him, this range is needed as a form of government anticipation of global economic uncertainty and to maintain flexibility in the implementation of the APBN to deal with global economic turmoil.

"The government conveys that the range of Rp16,500-Rp16,900 provides anticipatory and flexibility in dealing with global turmoil," he said.

In addition, he also ensured that the government would continue to strengthen coordination with Bank Indonesia in maintaining the stability of the rupiah exchange rate.

"Together with BI, the government strengthens coordination in maintaining the stability of the rupiah exchange rate," he said.
