President Sporting: Only The Worst Agent In The World Can Stop Gyokeres Departure

JAKARTA - Sporting CP President Frederico Varandas has acknowledged that Viktor Gyokeres is likely to leave the club this summer.

Varandas said only the worst agent in the world could thwart the Swedish international's move even though he remains optimistic about Sporting's desired transfer fee demands.

He appointed the move of Matheus Cunha and Martin Zubimendi in the summer as benchmarks that Manchester United and Arsenal had to fulfill to secure their signatures.

ESPN has previously reported that Manchester United and Arsenal are interested in Gyokeres, who scored 54 goals in 52 games in all last season.

"If you ask me today, there's a good chance Viktor will leave. In the last few weeks, we've been monitoring the market."

"I saw a player like Zubimendi, who was six months younger than Viktor, moving to Arsenal for 65 million euros.

"I saw two players sold in the Premier League--Matheus Cunha and Mbeumo--front players who I don't think have the qualities of Viktor."

"They sell for about 75 million euros. We talk about 26-year-old players."

"So, given the demands we made regarding Viktor's grades, I'm sure he can leave unless he has the worst agent in the world."

"What I think is hard to believe, is because he is one of the best football players in the world," Varandas told Portuguese news media A Bola.

Gyokeres is under contract with Sporting until June 2028 and has a release clause of 100 million euros.
