Indonesia's May 2025 Exports Increase 9.68 Percent, The Largest Fat And Vegetable Oil Commodities
JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded export performance in May 2025 of USD 24.61 billion, or an increase of 9.68 percent when compared to the same period in the previous year or year on year (yoy) of USD 22.44 billion.
Deputy for Statistics for Distribution and Services, Pudji Ismartini, said that the increase in exports in May 2025 was driven by the performance of non-oil and gas exports (oil and gas) which reached 23.50 billion US dollars, an increase of 11.80 percent (yoy) compared to May 2024 of 21.02 billion US dollars.
Meanwhile, the value of oil and gas exports in May 2025 reached 1.11 billion US dollars, or a decrease of 21.71 percent (yoy) compared to May 2024 of 1.42 billion US dollars.
"The annual increase in exports in May 2025 was mainly driven by an increase in non-oil and gas exports, namely in vegetable animal fat and oil commodities (HS 15), an increase of 63.01 percent with a contribution of 4.50 percent, iron and steel or HS 72 rose 27.58 percent with a share of 2.70 percent, and machinery and electrical equipment and parts rose 45.11 percent with a share of 2.58 percent," he said at a press conference, Tuesday, July 1.
He conveyed that the value of Indonesia's exports from January to May 2025 reached 111.98 billion US dollars or an increase of 6.98 percent compared to May 2024 of 104.67 billion US dollars.
Pudji said the export value of oil and gas (oil and gas) until May 2025 was recorded at 5.92 billion US dollars or a decrease of 11.26 percent compared to May 2024 worth 6.67 billion US dollars.

Meanwhile, the value of non-oil and gas exports until May 2025 was also recorded at 106.06 billion US dollars, an increase of 8.22 percent compared to May 2024 worth 98 billion US dollars.
"If you look at the sector, the cumulative increase in the value of non-oil and gas exports, occurring in the industrial and agricultural sectors, the manufacturing sector is the main driver of increasing non-oil and gas export performance in the period January to May 2025 with a contribution of 12.00 percent," he said.
Pudji said that the exports of the processing industry sector experienced a fairly large increase, namely palm oil, non-iron base metal, organic basic chemicals sourced from agricultural products, semiconductors and other electronic components, as well as fat butter and cocoa oil.
