Minister Of Religion Accompanied The President To Saudi Arabia To Discuss Hajj Village

Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar left for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in order to accompany President Prabowo Subianto's working visit to Saudi Arabia.

The Minister of Religion conveyed his plan that President Prabowo would meet with the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to discuss the implementation of the hajj, including plans to build an Indonesian Hajj village in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

"One of the agendas is the plan to build an Indonesian Hajj village in Makkah," said the Minister of Religion as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 1.

According to the Minister of Religion, the construction of Hajj and Umrah villages is a strategic step considering the large number of Indonesian pilgrims worshiping the Holy Land every year.

"We can imagine, 1.5 million Umrah people every year and more than 220 thousand people perform the pilgrimage. It is time for Indonesia to have a constructive idea to support long-term congregational services," he said.

The Minister of Religion explained that the Saudi Arabian government has also expressed appreciation for the implementation of the Hajj pilgrimage carried out by the Indonesian Hajj Mission.

This appreciation was conveyed by the Deputy Minister for Hajj Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi during a visit to the Indonesian Hajj Office for the Working Area of Makkah recently.

"Alhamdulillah, the implementation of Indonesian Hajj in general is considered good and received direct appreciation from the Saudi government. In fact, they consider Indonesian pilgrims to be the most orderly," said the Minister of Religion.

Although the implementation of the hajj is not entirely perfect, he said, Indonesia is considered one of the countries most prepared to face various regulatory changes in the new Hajj implementation system.

"This is proof that our system and readiness are on the right track," said the Minister of Religion.

The Indonesian government hopes that bilateral cooperation, especially in organizing Hajj and Umrah, will be closer and provide great benefits for all Indonesian Muslims in the future.
