Ojol Tariffs Increase By 15 Percent, Ministry Of Transportation Prepares The Rules
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) will increase online motorcycle taxi (ojol) travel rates by 8 to 15 percent. Discussion on the increase in tariffs is in the final stages and related regulations will be accelerated in the near future.
The Director General of Land Transportation, Ministry of Transportation, Aan Suhanan said that the tariff increase was a follow-up to the demand for drivers aka ojol drivers in a mass action which was held on May 20, 2025.
"For the demands related to tariffs, we have conducted an assessment and it is final for tariff changes, especially the second wheel," said Aan in a working meeting with Commission V of the DPR, Monday, June 30.
Furthermore, Aan said that based on the scheme, the increase in ojol tariffs will be based on three zones, namely Zone 1, Zone II, and Zone III.
"There are several increases, this is what we have made, we are reviewing, in accordance with the zone that has been determined. Varying, the increase is 15 percent, there is 8 percent, depending on the zone we determine. There are three zones, Zone I, Zone II, Zone III, "he explained.
Aan explained that currently new rules regarding tariff increases have not been implemented because the Ministry of Transportation still has to convey it to the applicator. He ensured that the applicators still agreed to this new policy.
"And we are still continuing this process, tomorrow (July 1, 2025) we will call, but in principle this tariff increase has been approved by the applicator, but to make sure we will call the applicator regarding this tariff increase," he said.
