Rice Prices Rise, DKI Provincial Government Do This
JAKARTA - Rice prices have increased on a national scale in the fourth week of June 2025. In Jakarta, rice prices have also increased for premium and medium rice types.
Premium rice (IR I) increased by 0.56 percent or an increase of Rp. 83 from Rp. 14,883 per kilogram to Rp. 14,966 per kilogram. Meanwhile, the increase in the price of medium rice was 0.76 percent or Rp. 102 from Rp. 13,410 to Rp. 13,512.
Head of the Department of Food Security, Maritime Affairs and Agriculture (KPKP) Hasudungan Sidabalok revealed that the increase in rice commodity prices occurred nationally due to the increase in the purchase price of the government (HPP) for harvest-dry unhulled rice (GKP) at the farmer level, which was originally Rp. 6,000 per kilogram to Rp. 6,500 per kilogram.
This refers to the Decree of the Head of the National Food Agency Number 2 of 2025 concerning Amendments to the Purchase Price of the Government and Rice Price Rate.
"In addition, it can also be possible because of the absorption of unhulled rice by Perum Bulog in connection with the domestic rice procurement target of 3 million tons according to Presidential Instruction Number 6 of 2025 concerning the Procurement and Management of Domestic Rice and the Distribution of Rice Reserves," said Hasudungan to reporters, Monday, June 30.
From this increase in rice prices, the DKI Provincial Government has taken a number of steps to overcome it.
Among them are carrying out Touring Cheap Food activities at the offices of DKI Jakarta Provincial Government agencies, flats, RPTRA, and other locations.
"The DKI Provincial Government is also monitoring the development of food prices regularly and coordinating with the Central Government and Perum Bulog regarding the plan to distribute Rice Food Aid by the National Food Agency," he said.
