National Progress Of Phase I People's School Reaches 83 Percent, Target Completed July 2025
JAKARTA - The progress of the construction of phase 1 People's Schools nationally has reached 83 percent. This strategic project is a follow-up to Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 8 of 2025 aimed at providing quality education for Indonesian children, especially from poor and extreme poor families.
Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo confirmed that the completion of the renovation and construction of the first phase of the People's School will be completed in July 2025.
"We continue to ensure that the renovation progress runs according to schedule. Nationally, the renovation of the first phase of the People's School has reached 83 percent," said Dody as quoted from his written statement, Monday, June 30.
Dody explained that the Directorate General of Strategic Infrastructure of the Ministry of Public Works has allocated a budget of around Rp. 1 trillion for the renovation of 200 phase I public schools spread throughout Indonesia. In addition, he said, his party is also preparing for the construction of the second phase of the People's School.
"For the second phase of the People's School, we are verifying the feasibility of location one by one which will absorb thousands of workers," he said.
According to Dody, one of the biggest challenges in this project is that the procurement of furniture is customize, so it takes longer than physical processes.

"To speed up phase II, we even started the procurement of furniture earlier before physical development was carried out," he said.
Meanwhile, Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Syaifullah Yusuf expressed his appreciation for the full support of the Ministry of Public Works in carrying out rapid and efficient renovations.
"Every renovation point involves more than 100 workers, this shows our seriousness together in realizing the People's School," he said.
