Commission I Of The DPR-Foreign Minister To Discuss The Healing Geopolitical Conflict Conditions
JAKARTA - Commission I of the House of Representatives held a working meeting with Foreign Minister Sugiono to discuss the conditions of geopolitical conflicts that have recently heated up and efforts to protect and repatriate Indonesian citizens (WNI) in conflict-prone areas.
Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the DPR Budisatrio Djiwandono said the discussion was very crucial and could have a direct impact on the national interests and safety of millions of Indonesians.
"The geopolitical condition is very dynamic and full of challenges demanding adaptation and agile strategy from the ranks of Indonesian diplomats," Budisatrio said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, June 30.
He said the meeting needed to be a momentum to understand and align views, as well as strengthen synergies. After that, concrete steps need to be formulated to deal with global complexity.
According to him, Commission I of the DPR needs to explore the current geopolitical conditions of the world and its implications for protecting Indonesian citizens abroad. He also wants to understand the escalation of conflicts in the middle east as well as regional border disputes or issues from the glasses of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Budisatrio also appreciated the ranks of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who were fast and responsive in responding to the very difficult global situation.
"We are grateful that many of our citizens have safely returned to their homeland," he said.
Commission I ensures that it will continue to encourage the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to support the return of Indonesian citizens safely from conflict areas.
