Platform Line 2 Starts Operation Today, Here Are Tanah Abang Station Rules
JAKARTA - KAI Commuter together with the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation, in this case the Class I Jakarta Railway Engineering Center (BTP) began to operate the main hall of new buildings and platform 2 Tanah Abang Station after the construction process was declared complete.
Previously, on February 22, 2025, the first switch-over process was carried out, namely operating lane 1 platforms in new buildings as a arrival and departure platform for Commuter Line users to Angke/Kampung Bandan Station from the Manggarai direction.
KAI Commuter Public Relations Manager, Leza Arlan said that starting June 29, 2025, this platform 2 will be used for arrival flow and departure of Commuter Line users to Manggarai Station from the direction of Angke/Kampung Bandan Station at Tanah Abang Station.
"In this 2nd switchover process, it will also change the pattern of Commuter Line Rangkasbitung travel operations," Leza said as quoted on Sunday, June 29.
Thus, continued Leza, all Commuter Line Rangkasbitung trips at Tanah Abang Station will enter the 3 old station buildings, then the Commuter Line series will carry out a direct pattern or the process of moving to lane 5 or 6 in the old building to return to Serpong to Rangkasbitung.
Leza added that Rangkasbitung Commuter Line users who drop or transit entirely will drop on lane 3. Users who will exit or transit towards Angke/Kampung Bandan can access JPO connecting new buildings to go to platform 1 or Gate Out.

Meanwhile, Rangkasbitung users who will transit to Manggarai Station do not need to change platforms because the Commuter Line to Manggarai on lane 2 will open right and left doors to up and down users.
The left door from the arrival direction is an exit access and the right door as entry access to the Commuter Line, added Leza.
For users who will take the Commuter Line to Serpong/Parung Panjang to Rangkasbitung, they will continue to wait for their Commuter Line trip on Platform 5 or 6 on the station's old building.
Changes in the flow and arrival platform of Commuter Line Rangkasbitung on platform 3 are an effort to improve safety and comfort by reducing user density at JPO and in lane platform areas 5 and 6 when boarding the Commuter Line Rangkasbitung, which was previously used for up and down users.
In addition, Tanah Abang Station's new hall has also begun to be used for access in and out of the station area. Users who will enter the station area can use a gate-in on the 2nd floor, while users who will exit at Tanah Abang Station can still use the gate-out on the ground floor. Meanwhile, for access in and out of the old station building, it can still be used.
With the implementation of this 2nd switch over, it is hoped that Tanah Abang Station can serve up to 300,000 users. In addition, KAI Commuter recorded an average volume of Commuter Line users who rose at Tanah Abang Station of 54,000 to 55,000 people per working day and 41,000 to 43,000 people every holiday. Meanwhile, the volume of transit users at Tanah Abang Station was 145,000 to 146,000 on weekdays and as many as 124,000 to 125,000 people on holidays.
KAI Commuter also appealed to all Commuter Line users at Tanah Abang Station to pay attention to access to go up and down at Tanah Abang Station.
"We invite all users to maintain available service facilities for mutual convenience," said Leza.
