Minister Of Environment Asks RDF Rorotan To Immediately Operate Waste Management In July
JAKARTA - Minister of Environment (LH) Hanif Faisol Nurofiq requested that the Rorotan Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) be operated immediately starting in July with sufficient waste.
"We have asked July to be active, because actually the infrastructure is already divergent," said Minister of Environment and Environment Control Agency (BPLH) Hanif Faisol Nurofiq after reviewing waste management in North Jakarta on Saturday.
He said the operation of the Rorotan RDF must use waste that has been sorted between organic and inorganic types. You can't use old waste that has been mixed from both types. The use of inorganic waste that has been sorted, is in accordance with the design of the Rorotan RDF itself.
The use of the mixed waste has resulted in an unpleasant odor spreading to the surrounding area and causing protests from residents when a trial was carried out some time ago.

Hanif himself said that he had communicated with the Governor of Jakarta Pramono Anung regarding waste management in the Jakarta area, considering that North Jakarta is a pilot project for waste management.
"This is being seriously handled by the Governor. The Governor is committed to accelerating any means to deal with waste," he explained.
Waste management efforts in Jakarta are needed to remind that the area is estimated to produce 8,000 tons of waste per day, so it requires serious management.
DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo said in a statement on May 21 that the irebon-less 20-ton-garbage-per-day RDF Rorotan was still unable to operate because it was in preparation for commissioning again.
He said the facility operation needed garbage that was still 'new' so as not to cause a smell as the public complained about.
