Separated From Instagram, Threads Launches Hidden Words Feature

JAKARTA Threads and Instagram have several combined features, one of which is Hidden Words. However, this feature is no longer integrated because Threads is now launching a special Hidden Words menu on their platform.

With this update, users can filter unwanted words, phrases, or emojis in Threads. Users can also filter and differentiate what they want to see on Threads and Instagram.

This Hidden Words setting will be applied in feeds, searches, profiles, and replies in Threads. Not only setting words to unwanted filters, users can also determine the time limit for applying the filter.

"Threads aims to encourage an open exchange of perspective. To do so, people need to be able to form experiences that can make them feel comfortable expressing themselves," said Adam Mosseri, Head of Instagram, quoted on Saturday, June 28, 2025.

There are two times that Threads provides in blocking words users don't want to see, namely forever or Until I turn it off or for 30 days. If implementing the second option, users will look back on their words in the future.

This option is useful for users who want to avoid film spoilers, television shows, viral dramas, and others. This Hidden Words feature is being launched in stages to all users, including those in Indonesia.
