Former South Korean President Yoon Examined By Prosecutors For Military Emergency
Former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol has fulfilled the summons of a special prosecutor regarding the investigation into the implementation of the South Korean military emergency in December 0224.
Yoon, through his lawyer, protested the demands of the special prosecutor to attend the examination under the media spotlight as a violation of his rights and tactics to embarrass him in public.
His lawyer said Yooon would respond to the investigation on Saturday, June 28, and tell the truth. They accused the investigation of being "political motivated" and "full of fakeness and distortion".
Yoon did not answer questions from reporters when he entered the special prosecutor's office on Saturday morning.
Military emergency efforts in December 2024 shocked a country that prides itself on becoming a rapidly growing democracy, after overcoming a military dictatorship in the 1980s.
Yoon was later ousted in April by the Constitutional Court which upheld his impeachment by parliament.
Special prosecutors filed a warrant to arrest Yoon for refusing to answer calls repeatedly earlier but were rejected by the court this week on the grounds that Yoon expressed his willingness to cooperate.
