GM Recalls More Than 62 Thousand Vehicles In The US, The Problem Could Cause Fire
JAKARTA - A well-known automotive company from the United States (US), General Motors (GM) opened a recall program involving 62,486 units due to damage to assembled brake pressure sensors that could cause fluid leakage.
Reported by Reuters on Friday, June 27, the component's failure increases the risk of an electrical short circuit that could result in a severe fire in the US.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), electric short circuits can produce excessive heat and can cause fires, which are at risk of injury or casualties.
In addition, fires can arise when the vehicle is turned off or possibly without supervision.
NHTSA also added that this defect was caused by the illegal use of chemicals by a brake raft supplier that caused the components to be damaged over time.

However, it is estimated that only 1 percent of all vehicles affected have experienced this failure. This recall program only involves one model, namely the 2019 to 2024 Chevrolet Silverado.
This is one of the other recall programs from GM announced in 2025. Earlier in April, the company announced a recall involving no less than 721,000 SUVs and trucks in various parts of the world.
This serious step was taken following the discovery of problems in the engine component that could potentially cause sudden power loss, increasing the risk of a very dangerous accident.
The models of vehicles affected in this massive recall are SUVs and truck trucks from 2021 to 2024 equipped with a V8 6.2L gasoline engine. The complete list includes Cadillac Escalade and Escalade EV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, and Tahoe, as well as GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, andION XL.
