International Flights Affected By War, DPR Hopes Iran And Israel Comply With Ceasefire

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives' Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP), Muhammad Husein Fadlulloh hopes that Iran and Israel will truly comply with the ceasefire agreement. Because the escalation of war between the two countries has begun to have an impact on global security stability, including disrupting the mobility of the international community.

"The Iran-Israel conflict no longer only has the potential to disrupt the energy supply and the world economy, but international flights are now starting to get disrupted. This is very worrying," Husein said, quoted Friday, June 27.

As reported, the war between Iran and Israel also had an impact on international flights. A number of airlines chose to cancel or divert flight routes, where flights to Indonesia were also affected.

Therefore, Husein hopes that Iran and Israel will soon stop the war that has caused many casualties, especially as conditions heat up with the involvement of the United States (US) in attacking Iran.

The war will never be the answer to every conflict. We hope Iran and Israel can resolve disputes through diplomatic channels in accordance with international law rules," he stressed.

Husein also highlighted how tensions in the Middle East continued despite the President of the United States, Donald Trump said Iran and Israel had agreed to a ceasefire. Moreover, Israel also accused Iran of re-attacking after the ceasefire was imposed.

"Of course we hope Iran and Israel can orderly adhere to the ceasefire. Attacks at the ceasefire will actually worsen the situation," Husein said.

On the other hand, Husein positively welcomed the Government's move to evacuate Indonesian citizens (WNI) to the country as Iran-Israeli wars heated up. He also encouraged the Government to strengthen active diplomacy at the global level and anticipate the impact of the escalation of conflicts in the Middle East.

"The government's steps are right to evacuate Indonesian citizens from Iran amid the worsening war between Iran and Israel," said Husein.

Husein also encouraged the Government to continue lobbying for world peace in multilateral forums, such as the UN General Assembly, meetings of Non-Aligned countries and meetings of Islamic Cooperation Organizations (OKI). The DPR, including BKSAP, is also said to have participated in lobbying peace through parliamentary diplomacy.

"We also encourage the Government to carry out active diplomacy through international forums to call on the parties to immediately ease tensions, and enforce their obligations based on the UN Charter and other international law regulations," Husein said.

"The PBB must mediate so that this conflict does not spread and does not let World War III occur as many people are worried about," he concluded.
