Head Of Bappenas Suharso Monoarfa Optimistic Indonesia's Economy Can Rebound Like China

JAKARTA - China's economy has grown positively in the first quarter of 2021. Minister of National Development Planning / Head of Bappenas Suharso Monoarfa is optimistic that in 2022 Indonesia will experience the same thing.

According to him, next year will be a turning point for economic growth in Indonesia. Meanwhile this year, Indonesia is still facing challenges because the COVID-19 pandemic is not over.

Furthermore, Suharso believes that 2022 will become the door for Indonesia to be able to escape the pressure of the pandemic and is a key year for consolidating economic recovery. In fact, it is predicted that the national economy will grow 5.8 percent that year.

"The development targets in the 2022 RKP consist of economic growth between 5.2-5.8 percent, the open unemployment rate from 5.5 to 5.6 percent, the poverty rate from 8.5 to 9 percent, IPM 73.44-73.48, a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from 26.8 to 27.1 percent and a Gini ratio of 0.376-0.378, "he said at the 2021 National Development Planning Conference, which was held at the State Palace, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, May 4.

Suharso said Indonesia needs an average growth rate of 6 percent to bring Indonesia to become a developed country and escape the middle income trap before 2045. Therefore, to achieve this, the challenges faced by Indonesia are not only the problem of economic recovery, but also the problem of economic transformation in the medium term. and long.

Therefore, he said, what must be done is to accelerate and boost the number of improvements that are needed from now on. This economic transformation must be carried out through two main strategies, which must be the focus of the government's attention so that it can be carried out properly in its implementation.

This is done by changing the structure of the economy from lower productivity to higher productivity sectors and increasing the productivity of each of these sectors.

"The year 2022 is an important momentum to prepare a solid foundation for Indonesia to carry out economic transformation," he explained.
