Bakamla RI Picks Up 3 Crew Members Allegedly Violating Borders Arrested By Malaysian Officials

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla) deployed KN Tanjung Datu-301 to pick up three crew members (ABK) KM Tembisan, an agency from Buru Island, Riau Islands (Kepri), after being released by the Malaysian Maritime Strengthening Agency (APMM), because it was proven not guilty.

The humanitarian operation to pick up the three crew members was carried out in the waters of the RI-Malaysia border, Thursday, June 26.

"The three crew members were officially handed over by the Indonesian Consulate General in Johor Bahru," said Deputy Public Relations Pranata Major Bakamla Yuhanes Antara, confiscated by Antara.

The three crew members were on behalf of Ahmad, Haryanto, and Muhammad Faizal. They were arrested by APMM on May 26, 2025 for allegedly violating regional boundaries.

However, after the inspection, it turned out that the location where the ship was passing was still in the border area where the traffic separation scheme (TSS) was not prohibited.

After being found innocent, the APMM handed over the three crew members to the Indonesian Consul General in Johor Bahru on June 5, 2025.

According to Yuhanes, the pick-up was carried out as a follow-up to the official application letter from the Indonesian Consulate General in Johor Bahru to Bakamla RI with number B-00243/Johor Bahru/250606, regarding the request for pick-up assistance for the three crew members.

"After coordination, the pick-up is scheduled for today, then the handover from the Indonesian Consulate General in Johor Bahru will be carried out on the deck of the Tanjung Datu-301 KN helicopter," he said.

The handover of the three crew members was witnessed directly by the Commander of KN Tanjung Datu-301 Colonel Bakamla Rudi Endratmoko, as well as representatives of the APMM, and the Buru Island Muspika.

"After being handed over, the ship and crew were escorted by KN Tanjung Datu-301 to return to Indonesian waters, and handed over to the Head of Buru Island Sub-district to be returned to their respective families," said Yuhanes.
