Manchester City Designs Strategy To Overcome Hot Weather When Facing Juventus

JAKARTA - Pep Guardiola said Manchester City players will suffer in the hot weather as they face Juventus in their final Group G match of the 2025 Club World Cup in Orlando, Friday, June 27, 2025, early morning WIB.

The match to determine the winner of Group G will begin at 3 pm local time at the Camping World Stadium when the air temperature is estimated to reach 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32.2 degrees Celsius).

Manchester City, who has been training at Boca Raton, played their previous game against Al Ain at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, which has air conditioning. However, the conditions in Orlando will be very different.

"The heat weather is clear. We can't change that. It's better to play in the Atlanta stadium, which is fantastic. All teams have to deal with it."

"The next World Cup (in 2026), people already know about it. We have to be prepared to suffer."

"My advice to people is to bring lots of water, hats and towels to the neck because I think it will be difficult," Guardiola told a news conference on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, local time.

Guardiola have so far brought Mancheser City to the first two games against Wydad AC and Al Ain.

Juventus presents the toughest test in the group. The Citizens must win to finish at the top of the group standings and have the potential to avoid Real Madrid in the round of 16.

Despite being very dependent on the result, Guardiola said he had to take into account the hot weather when he chose the players.

"We will play new players in the second half. The selection of players considers it (weather). Under these conditions, we are not ready to play 90 minutes."

"During the break of the match we will make substitutions," said the Spaniard.

One player who is not available is Claudio Echeverri. The 19-year-old was replaced during the match break against Al Ain and was seen wearing crew and protective boots.

"He had a problem with his ankle so he had to be out for two or three weeks. I feel sorry for him." said Guardiola.
