Manchester United Supporters Are Furious With Ticket Price Increases
JAKARTA - Manchester United supporters criticized the club for what they called an astonishing increase in ticket prices.
On the day of the announcement of the new Premier League schedule, Manchester United announced plans to introduce a new ticket categorization system for the first time.
This means that ticket prices for the most attractive matches will be higher, a move that according to Manchester United Supporters' Trust (MUST) will increase prices by more than 50 percent.
Manchester United said the move made them level with their competitors in the Premier League.
"After last season's run, we may hope the club will reconsider their plans for this new ticket model, which will drastically increase ticket prices for 20,000 supporters per game who buy tickets based on matches per game."
"This is really a crushing blow to Manchester United supporters. When the club says it will introduce this new model for member tickets, we urge them to keep most of the games at the current level and only apply the highest price category for a small number of large matches, as well as lower prices for games with low demand," said a MUST spokesman.

MUST also accused the club of failing to consult with supporters regarding the changes. However, The Red Devils insisted that they had contacted the Advisory Council of Supporters (FAB) and lowered ticket price increases after talks.
According to ESPN reports, Manchester United feel price increases are critical to strengthening their fragile financial position and ensuring the team is competitive on the pitch.
"Once again, they failed to consult with any supporters' representative body regarding decision details."
"Once again, they make choices that harm the interests of supporters, in our opinion, the club as a whole."
"The club's commitment to represent supporters is in principle good, but again not implemented in practice."
"The structure is already there. Representatives of the Supporter Forum and the Supporter Advisory Board (FAB) are doing their job."
"However, the clubs did not comply with their previous commitment to proper consultation and that needs to be changed quickly."
"What Manchester United need next season is a united supporter base and club, with a team on the pitch backed by loyal and vocal supporters cheering after the disaster that occurred last year."
"This ticket decision will only keep supporters away for the sake of occasional visitors and risk making the next generation of young supporters - which is the club's future - unable to afford it," said a MUST spokesman.
Starting next season, Manchester United's Premier League matches will be divided into three categories, namely A, B, and C.
The match against Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Newcastle will all be classified as Category A matches. Ticket prices for the match will range from 59 pounds (79.4 US dollars) to 97 pounds.
