Dubois Wants To Be An Opponent Who Closes Usyk's Career

JAKARTA Daniel Dubois has ambitions to become a fighter who ended Oleksandr Usyk's career when the two of them met in the ring in a heavyweight clash next month.

The two boxers who control all of the heavyweight belts are scheduled to fight to win the undisputed world title at Wembley Stadium, London, England, on July 19, 2025.

Usyk is said to have separated from his old promoter Alexander Krassyuk ahead of the duel. Dubois also interpreted this as a sign that the Ukrainian was likely to retire in the near future.

The 27-year-old fighter also hopes to be the opponent who will end Usyk's career. He firmly believes their fight will be the last fight for the Ukrainean champion.

"Maybe (he will retire after our fight), maybe, yes. So, I will go up in the ring to make as much damage as possible," Dubois told Sky Sports.

This duel is a golden opportunity for Dubois to take revenge after losing his first fight against Usyk in 2023.

Being able to beat Usyk will be a monumental achievement for Dubois. You see, Usyk--the Olympic gold medalist--it was recorded that he never lost in a professional match.

"These things happen for a reason and I will be ready to take the titles from him. However, all of these things happen for a reason," said Dubois.

Usyk proved himself to be the best heavyweight boxer of this era through two brilliant wins over Tyson Fury last year, which made him the undisputed world champion, the status he had previously held in cruiserweight.

At this time Usyk controls the WBA (Super), WBO, and WBC heavyweight belts. Meanwhile, Daniel Dubois holds the IBF belt, which he managed to defend against Anthony Joshua.
