MPR Chair Asks Minister Of Home Affairs-ATR/BPN Minister To Quickly Handle Buying And Selling Indonesian Islands On Online Sites

JAKARTA - MPR Chairman Ahmad Muzani asked the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian and Minister of ATR/BPN Nusron Wahid to immediately address the issue of buying and selling Indonesian-owned islands emblazoned on international property sites.

This is so that the islands in the territory of the Republic of Indonesia are not seized by irresponsible persons.

"I think it is an act that cannot be justified, especially the outer islands are fences for the borders of the Republic of Indonesia. So I think the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of ATR/BPN must act quickly," said Muzani, Wednesday, June 25.

"So that these islands do not fall into irresponsible hands, either on behalf of Indonesia or people in our name. So that should not happen, while the situation can still be handled," continued the Secretary General of Gerindra.

Muzani also asked Minister Tito and Minister Nusron to be more vigilant and firm in responding to this issue. He asked for administration related to regional boundaries including the outermost islands to be evaluated and guarded.

"Do not let the outer islands be owned by irresponsible people. Sometimes on behalf of Indonesia, but the real owners are not (Indonesia). Things like this must be handled quickly," said Muzani.

"(So we have to be more vigilant) Yes, the Minister of Home Affairs, including (minister) Agrarian," he concluded.

It is known that four islands in the Anambas Islands, Riau Islands, namely Mala Island, Nakok Island, Tokongsendok Island, and Ritan Island have the status of 'for Sale' on the international property site wwww.privateislandonline.com.

Most recently, Panjang Island in West Nusa Tenggara is also available on the same site.
