Strait Of Hormuz Wants To Be Closed, Bahlil Will Meet Pertamina
JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia revealed that he would hold a meeting with PT Pertamina (Persero) to discuss the impact of Iran's plan to close the Strait of Hormuz due to the conflict with Israel.
"I also have a meeting with Pertamina tomorrow to discuss various tactical steps in dealing with global dynamics, especially to the availability of our energy," he said, quoted on Wednesday, June 25.
Bahlil said oil prices would soar if Iran later closed the Hormuz Strait. This is because 20 percent of the world's crude oil supply will cross this strait.
"When the Strait of Hormuz is closed, it will have an impact on the increase in world crude oil prices, although currently it is not up to 80 US dollars per barrel," he continued.
Furthermore, the General Chairperson of the Golkar Party said that actually, Indonesian oil imports did not only come from the Middle East, but also came from the African and Latin American regions, considering that Pertamina had a number of oil and gas blocks there.
"Our imports are many, they are also from Africa, Latin America, because some of Pertamina's oil wells are there. Then some of the Middle East. But later I will check for sure," he explained.

In the midst of anticipating soaring oil prices, Bahlil ensured that Indonesia would continue to raise the realization of domestic oil lifting. With lifting, he said, Indonesia could suppress oil imports which would at any time soar in the midst of conflict.
"What should we do? Like it or not, in total, increase lifting," said Bahlil.
