Russian Missile Attack Kills 17 People, Zelenskyy Urges Allies To Help Ukraine's Defense
JAKARTA - Russia's missile attack in southeastern Ukraine on Tuesday killed 17 people and caused heavy damage. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has again urged Kyiv allies at the NATO summit to strengthen Ukraine's defense industry.
The attack, which was divided into two parts, killed 15 people and injured more than 200 people in the regional capital Dnipro, governor Serhiy Lysak said, where blast waves rained dozens of train passengers with broken glass.
A total of 18 children were included in the list of injured victims.
The rare day-to-day attack also damaged dozens of apartment buildings and educational facilities among other locations, according to Borys Mayor Filatov.
Two people were also killed in the city of Samar, about 10 km (six miles) from Dnipro, Lysak said, adding that an infrastructure facility was damaged.

The attack comes as Zelenskyy urged NATO member states in the Netherlands to increase their investment in Ukraine's growing defense sector and crack down on the supply of foreign components that Russia says are using to make weapons.
"It's not a difficult fight to pinpoint sides," he wrote on X in response to the attack.
"Seding with Ukraine means defending life," he continued.
Russia has stepped up airstrikes in Ukraine in recent weeks, particularly the capital Kyiv, where 28 people died on June 17 in the deadliest attack of the year. Ten others were killed in airstrikes in Kyiv and surrounding areas on Monday.
