IOS 26 Presents Recovery Assistant: New Solution To Restore IPhone Without Computer
JAKARTA - Apple introduced a new feature on iOS 26 called Recovery Assistant which is designed to help users recover iPhones that crash or fail to boot without the need to use a Mac or PC.
For iPhone users who experience serious problems with the operating system until the device cannot turn on normally, the recovery process has always been involved with computers. However, with the Recovery Assistant on iOS 26, Apple began to reduce dependence on other devices to deal with this problem.
This feature was first mentioned in iOS 26 and iPadOS 26' second beta release records for developers. In its explanation, Apple describes the Recovery Assistant as a new way to recover the device if it can't turn on normally. Even though it hasn't been explained in detail, Apple says that this feature will detect the problem and try to fix it if found.
For users who rely entirely on iPhones for their daily digital needs and don't always have access to computers, this feature is a major breakthrough.

Recovery Assistant also appears to be a further development of a previous feature that allows users to recover iPhones using other iPhones or iPads nearby. However, this time Apple seems to eliminate the need for additional devices altogether, making the recovery process more independent.
Apple has actually tested the concept of self-repair several times like this. In February 2020, iOS 13.4 had brought up an "OS Recovery" that uses an external server instead of a computer. Then in 2021, rumors circulated about the "Internet Recovery" mode that allowed the iOS recovery wirelessly.
This feature would be very useful if Apple actually realized plans to release an iPhone without a port like the one rumored for the iPhone 17 Air. Although reportedly the plan was canceled due to EU regulations, development directions such as the Recovery Assistant still open up great opportunities for the future of a fully wireless and independent iPhone.
