President Prabowo Subianto's Government Asked To Condemn Iran's Sovereignty Violations By The US And Israel

The Institute's political and economic research institute officially issued a statement condemning the airstrikes launched by the United States against Iran's three main nuclear facilities on June 21, 2025 local time. President Prabowo Subianto was asked to condemn this attack.

This statement was delivered directly by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the GREAT Institute, Dr. Syahganda Nainggolan, in Jakarta, Monday, June 23, 2025.

The Midnight Hammer-coded airstrike, which hit Iran's nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, using bunker bombs and Tomahawk missiles, is a unilateral military action that violates Iran's sovereignty and has the potential to violate the UN Charter, said Dr. Syahganda.

The White House previously stated that this attack was carried out to halt Iran's nuclear program and encourage peace. However, the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, expressed deep concern over the move. Guterres called the situation a gravely alarmed' and called for immediate de-escalation.

The GREAT Institute noted that this attack was carried out without the authorization of the UN Security Council, and it was unclear whether there was a legitimate direct threat to the US that could be used as a basis for justification in the framework of self-defense. America appears to be acting unilaterally, not in a proportional response to international law-recognized armed attacks," added Dr. Syahganda.

Calls For The Government Of Indonesia

As a country that adheres to the principles of free-active and international law enforcement, the GREAT Institute urges the Government of Indonesia to strongly condemn the violation of Iran's sovereignty, in accordance with the non-intervention principles upheld in the UN Charter and the Indonesian Constitution.

In addition, the Indonesian government is also urged to encourage the holding of an emergency session of the UN Security Council, in order to formulate a resolution to criticism of acts of military aggression, immediate cessation of attacks, and international surveillance by the IAEA of affected nuclear facilities.

In addition, Prabowo Subianto's government was asked to offer Indonesia's position as a neutral mediator in the crisis between the United States and Iran, in line with ASEAN's vision and Indonesia's commitment to regional and global stability.

"Indonesia must appear as a peaceful facilitator, who is able to open up space for dialogue between the two major countries, not become a passive audience amid the escalation of global conflicts," said Dr. Syahganda.

The GREAT Institute statement also expressed support for the attitude of countries such as China, Russia, and Latin American countries, which have denounced the military attack and called for respect for the country's sovereignty.

"As part of a global community that upholds international law and a civilized world, Indonesia must be firm, not ambiguous," he concluded.
