US Official Confirms Iranian Missile Attack On American Base In Qatar, No Report On Victims Yet

JAKARTA - United States (US) officials confirmed the Al Udeid military air base in Qatar was attacked by short and medium-range ballistic missiles originating from Iran.

"Currently, there are no reports of casualties on the US side," US defense officials were quoted as saying by CNN, Tuesday, June 24 in the morning by WIB. "We are monitoring this situation thoroughly and will provide further information as soon as it becomes available," he continued.

Qatar denounced Iran for its attack on an American military base. Qatar calls it a striking violation of its country's sovereignty and airspace.

"We emphasize that Qatar countries have the right to respond directly, in accordance with the nature and scale of this blatant aggression and in accordance with international law," said Majed Al-Ansari, spokesman for Qatar's Foreign Ministry, in a statement on Monday, June 23 evening local time.

"We believe that Qatar's air defenses succeeded in thwarting the attack and successfully intercepted the Iranian missile," continued Al-Ansari.
