Qatar Condemns Iran's Missile Attack On The American Base In 'O Abu Abdullah'
JAKARTA - Qatar condemned Iran for its attack on the United States (US) Al Udeid Air Base. Qatar calls it a striking violation of the country's sovereignty and airspace.
"We emphasize that Qatar countries have the right to respond directly, in accordance with the nature and scale of this blatant aggression and in accordance with international law," said Majed Al-Ansari, spokesman for Qatar's Foreign Ministry, in a statement on Monday, June 23 evening local time.
"We believe that Qatar's air defenses managed to thwart the attack and successfully intercepted Iranian missiles. A statement explaining the state of the attack will be issued later by the Ministry of Defense," continued Al-Ansari.
It was also reported that Iran had fired missiles at US military bases in Iraq.
Iranian state media Tasnim reported Iranian missile operations against American bases in Qatar and Iraq were codenamed O Abu Abdullah, meaning Thanks to victory
