Anticipating The Closure Of The Hormuz Strait, Pertamina Diverts Ships Through Oman And India
JAKARTA - PT Pertamina (Persero) has anticipated the closure of the Strait of Hormuz by diverting all oil carriers through India and Oman. This follows the decision of the Parliament of the Republic of Iran which approved the proposed closure of the Strait of Hormuz for shipping activities.
"Pertamina has anticipated this by securing our ship, diverting the ship's route to a safe route, including through Oman and India to maintain the sustainability of supply chains," said Pertamina Vice President Corporate Communication Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Monday, June 23.
Fadjar explained that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz will have a major impact on the distribution of world crude oil. Fadjar said, as much as 20 percent of global crude oil shipping through this route.
"If later there is a closure of the Hormuz Strait, where 20 percent of global crude oil shipping through the strait will certainly have an impact on the distribution of world crude oil," continued Fadjar.
