Russian Missile Attack On Kyiv Kills 7 People

JAKARTA - Russian drone and missile attacks on Ukraine's Kyiv and its surroundings at night killed seven people and injured dozens.

It was reported that six people died in the busy Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv, where all parts of the residential building were destroyed, said Tymur Tkachenko, Kyiv's military administration chief, via the Telegram messaging app.

Four children were among 25 injured in the attack.

"Russian style has not changed, attacking places where there may be people," Tkachenko said.

"Building a residence, exiting a shelter, this is Russian style," he continued.

Moscow stepped up drone and missile attacks in Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities in recent weeks as talks to end the war resulted in little deal.

Both sides have denied targeting civilians, but thousands of civilians have died in the conflict - most of them Ukrainian. Russia has not commented on the latest attack.

Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said people may still be under the rubble after an attack last night caused damage to six of the city's 10 districts.

"To be honest, I'm not afraid. More like my life is frozen," said a 75-year-old local resident who only mentioned his first name, Liudmyla.

"You freeze, look at all that and think about how you will live," he said.

The Ukrainian air force said it shot down 339 from 352 unmanned aircraft and 15 from 16 Russian-launched missiles in attacks on four Ukrainian territories.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will discuss national defense and additional pressure on Russia to end such attacks during his visit to the UK.
