Left Behind First, Inter Milan Beats Reds 2-1
JAKARTA - Inter Milan won a dramatic 2-1 victory over the Japanese team, Urawa Reds in a follow-up match at Group E of the 2025 Club World Cup at Lumen Field, Washington on Sunday morning WIB.
Urawa managed to excel in this match thanks to Ryoma Watanabe's goal in the first half. Inter were able to make a comeback thanks to goals from Lautaro Martinez and Valentin Carboni in the second half.
This victory made Inter move up to first place in Group E with four points. Meanwhile, Urawa is stuck to the bottom of the standings with zero points, as reported by Antara from the official FIFA website.
Inter Milan immediately showed dominance from the start of the match, they continued to press the Reds Urrawa defense.
On the other hand, Urawa chose to play more defensively. They survive tightly and only occasionally launch counter-attacks to threaten the Inter goal.
Urawa actually opened the scoring in the 11th minute. Takuro Kaneko released a pull pass from the right which was perfectly welcomed by Ryoma Watanabe with a flat shot and put Urawa 1-0 up.
Inter immediately increased the intensity of attacks after conceding. However, a neat Urrawa defense makes it difficult for the Nerazzurri to create dangerous opportunities, and their many shots are only speculative.
Until halftime, the score 1-0 for the Ukraine advantage remained. Inter need to find a solution to dismantle the opponent's tight defense in the second half.
Inter Milan immediately made changes early in the second half. Chivu included Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Francesco Pio Esposito replacing Nicola Zalewski and Sebastiano Esposito to play more attacking.
