Nyck De Vries Petik Securities From Jakarta E-Prix Despite Failing To Finish

JAKARTA The Mahindra Racing racer, Nyck de Vries, still takes the positive side even though he had to swallow the bitter pill and failed to finish in the Jakarta E-Prix 2025 race which was held at the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit (JIEC), Saturday, June 21.

De Vries actually appeared impressive in front of the public in Jakarta. The Dutch racer had led the race until entering the 23rd lap, as a result of solid qualifications and aggressive racing strategies. However, his steps to secure the top position turned into a disaster.

When entering the first corner, De Vries tried to maneuver past Jake Dennis, but his action was considered too aggressive by the FIA race supervisors. As a result, he had to receive a 10-second penalty, making his position slowly evicted from the front row.

Malang could not be denied, De Vries' unfortunate fate became even more complete when his car experienced technical problems ahead of the final lap-lap. The Mahindra Racing team was finally forced to pull their car off the track, marking the status of Did Not Finish (DNF) for the former Formula E world champion.

However, De Vries remains proud and praised the hard work of his team throughout the weekend in Jakarta.

"It was an amazing weekend, and I think we've done a good job. We had a good day, good qualification, and good racing. It's a shame there's a technical problem, but it's part of this sport. We accept it and continue the competition," De Vries told ANTARA after the race.

This year's race in Jakarta has indeed taken place dramatically under tropical hot weather and the JIEC track which demands high concentration. When De Vries had to bite his finger, the main podium was secured by Dan Ticktum, who appeared consistent and had minimal errors from start to end of the race.

Ticktum managed to withstand pressure from his rivals until the final flag was raised. Behind him, Edoardo Mortara and Nico Mueller successfully finished in second and third positions, filling the Jakarta E-Prix 2025 podium.

For Mahindra Racing, the results in Jakarta are not satisfactory, but De Vries' performance during the training session until the middle of the race is an important capital for the next series.

"We will conduct a thorough evaluation, improve what needs to be improved, and come back stronger in the next race," concluded De Vries optimistically.

The fans of Formula E Indonesia also gave their full support to De Vries even though they had to fail to finish, hoping that the Dutch racer could rise and return for this bad result in the next series of the 2025 season.
