MIND ID Reaffirms Support For The Establishment Of An EV Industrial Ecosystem
JAKARTA - The Indonesian mining industry holding, MIND ID, affirms its commitment to support Indonesia in winning the competition to form a global electric vehicle industry (EV) ecosystem.
Through a progressive mineral downstream strategy, MIND ID is ready to be at the forefront of supplying the needs of the EV ecosystem industry to respond to increasing market demand.
MIND ID Deputy President Director Dany Amrul Ichdan said EVs are new market spaces full of potential. Many countries are competing to penetrate this market.
However, Indonesia has a very fundamental strength as a wealth of natural resources and solid downstream capabilities. We believe that Indonesia can become a key player in the supply chain of the global EV ecosystem.
"MIND ID together with all Group Members will continue to maximize capacity and open space for collaboration with various parties so that this great potential can really be utilized as much as possible for the progress of the nation," he said in a statement to the media, Saturday, June 21.

He explained that as a tangible form of commitment to downstreaming, the MIND ID Group has consistently realized strategic projects that produce essential mineral raw materials for the EV derivative industry.
First, Smelter Grade Alumina Refinery (SGAR), Mempawah, West Kalimantan has been operating and is capable of producing 1 million tons of alumina per year the main raw material for aluminum production, which is the basic material for the frame and body of electric vehicles.
Second, the Nickel Purification Smelter which is being developed in Pomalaa, Morowali, Sorowako, and East Halmahera to produce Nickel Pig Iron (NPI) and Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate (MHP), namely the main raw material for EV batteries.
Third, the Copper smelter in Gresik which has a production capacity of 600,000 tons of copper cathode per year, which is an important component of the electricity system in EVs.
Fourth, the Coal-to-Graphite project pilot in South Sumatra who is able to convert coal into synthetic graphite and sheet anode which is also the main component of EV batteries. This project is an innovative solution for Indonesia that does not yet have an economical natural graphite mine.
Dany also understands the importance of sustainable research and technology development in supporting the transformation of the EV industry in the future.
Through the research umbrella of the Indonesia Mining & Minerals Research Institute (IMMRI), MIND ID is committed to continuing to present mineral innovations relevant to industrial needs.
The key to winning this race is the spirit to continue to do research and development. We will not stop at projects that are already running, innovation must continue to live, so that Indonesia's position is stronger in the global supply chain," he concluded.
