Big Win, Benfika Beats Aucland City 6-0

Benfica won a big win in his first match at the 2025 Club World Cup after defeating New Zealand club Auckland City 6-0 in Group C at Inter & Co Stadium, Florida, United States, Friday.

Quoted by Antara from the FIFA website in Jakarta, in the match which was postponed for about two hours due to bad weather, Benfica scored a goal through Angel Di Maria (penalty 45+8', penalty 90+8'), VangelisPavlidis(53'), Renato Sanches (63') and Leandro Barreiro (76', 78').

In that match, the Portuguese team pressed from the start. The kick of attacking midfielder Kerem Akturkoglu in the second minute was still sideways.

Benfica again threatened Auckland's defense in the ninth minute through Nicolas Otamendi's overhead kick which the opposing goalkeeper, who was only 20 years old, Nathan Garrow, was able to secure.

Benfica was actually able to score in the 43rd minute through Fredrik Aursnes, but was disallowed by the referee. The goal Benfica was waiting for was finally created in the 45+7 minute through Angel Di Maria's penalty kick.

The player who won the 2022 World Cup with the Argentine national team was not able to be saved by Garrow who performed brilliantly throughout the first half, Denegan made seven saves.

The match was then stopped when both teams entered a period of pause. After being suspended, there was no significant change in the course of the match. Benfica still controls and poses repeated threats.

In the second half, coach Bruno Lage's team appeared with a better final finish after adding five goals out of a total of 14 shots that they sustained.

The five goals were scored by Pavlidis (53'), Renato Sanches (63'), Leandro Barreiro (76', 78'), and an additional goal from Di Maria through the puh point in the 90+8 minute.

This victory made the club nicknamed As Guias lead the 2025 Club World Cup Group C standings with four points.

They will play their last match against German giant Bayern Munich on Wednesday (25/6) early morning WIB at the Bank of America Stadium, North Carolina.

Meanwhile, Auckland, who has been confirmed to have lost twice and conceded 16 goals (after previously losing Bayern Munich 10-0), closed his trip at the Club World Cup by facing Boca Juniors at Geodis Park, Tennessee at the same time.
