Jumbo Balloon Dolan Neng Jogja, KAI's Creative Welcome In Front Of Yogyakarta Station
JAKARTA - There is something new and stole attention in the front area of Yogyakarta Station. A giant balloon as high as more than 10 meters now stands to welcome customers and tourists. PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) collaborated with Visinema to present the Jumbo Balloon Dolan Neng Jogja, a creative installation that was present from 18 to 30 June 2025.
Being right in the front yard of the station that is directly facing the Malioboro area of Yogyakarta, this installation is a visual attraction as well as a symbol of KAI's friendliness to the community. The giant balloon of the character Don can be visited in two sessions every day, namely at 06.00 a.m. -13.00 p.m. local time and 15.00 p.m. local time.
"The front area of Yogyakarta Station is an important meeting point for customers, tourists, and residents. We want to welcome them in a fresher and more enjoyable way," said KAI Vice President Public Relations Anne Purba, in a statement, Friday, June 20.
The growth of passengers at Yogyakarta Station shows a significant increase. Throughout 2024, the number of passengers rose to 2,956,012 people, an increase of 13.7 percent compared to 2023. Passengers decreased by 12.9 percent to 2,902,443 people.
This positive trend continues in 2025. The January-May period recorded 1,164,550 passengers riding and 1,141,300 passengers dropping. This figure reflects Yogyakarta as one of the most popular travel destinations, especially during the school holidays.
Not only serving long-distance trains, Yogyakarta Station is also the main node for urban services. Commuter Line Yogyakarta recorded an increase in subscribers from 727,895 people in January 'May 2024 to 780,878 in the same period 2025. Prameks train also rose significantly to 207,325 passengers from the previous 179,335.

Access to YIA Airport is also easier with Airport Trains. Throughout 2024, this service recorded 2,730,791 passengers. Meanwhile, in the first four months of 2025, 888,653 people have used this service.
The presence of this jumbo balloon is part of KAI's commitment to provide a memorable experience since customers arrived at the station. Not just a trip, KAI wants to be part of the fun moments experienced by customers.
"We believe that the best journey starts from a good atmosphere as well. So, we present a welcome like this as part of a more humanist and close customer experience," concluded Anne.
